The mayor of Oliver-Paipoonge believes the proposed City of Thunder Bay trucking by-law will not be good for her community.
Lucy Kloosterhuis tells us, such a law has the potential to increase traffic from 800 to 1800 trucks a day through her area.
“The Kakabeka village area can not absorb that kind of traffic, neither can anyone living on Highway 11/17.”
The city wants to move all heavy through truck traffic to Highway’s 11/17 and 61, while Klusterhuis would prefer the city spread traffic evenly around. (File photo)
