The province of Ontario is investing almost $1.4-million into Thunder Bay baseball fields in time for the 2017 Under-18 World Cup.
Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport Eleanor McMahon made the announcement today at the Port Arthur Stadium.
She says the money is for upgrades and infrastructure, and more importantly getting kids active instead of playing video games. McMahon also says Thunder Bay knows how to host world class events considering how well the city did with the Staal Golf Tournament.
Thunder Bay International Baseball Association President Larry Hebert says they are continuing to ask the federal government for money to push the $1.4-million over the $2-million mark.
