More than 100 of Thunder Bay's community health workers are on the picket line today.
Nearly 3,000 union members across the province, mostly registered nurses, voted to strike last night, after rejecting the latest offer from their employer.
Ontario Nurses Association spokesperson Chris Cormier says the main area of contention is wages, noting their employer is unwilling to bring salaries up to the industry standard.
Cormier adds community care centre CEO's have been getting raises, and he speculates CEO's in the region have received a 17 per cent bump. (Photo: Caryn Ceolin)
