Poverty Free Thunder Bay wants to see more money set aside for low-income residents in the 2018 provincial budget.

Sarah Williamson spoke at a pre-budget hearing earlier this week.

"There's just not enough money for people to manage," she argues.

The group is calling for an increase to Ontario Works and Ontario Disability benefits.

Spokesperson Ann McGuire says officials will see that in the long run, officials will see that Thunder Bay is facing serious homelessness issues.

She tells us Indigenous people are most at-risk of becoming homeless, and she'd like to see more support for affordable housing. (File Photo)
