There’s concern about public reaction to a possible tax for stormwater system upgades.
Monday night, Councillors were presented with a study on how to increase stormwater spending to $12 million annually.
Councillor Andrew Foulds says it’s important to show residents the value in spending more to maintain our stormwater system.
“If we’re going to ask citizens to do heavy lifting, whether it’s taxes, fees, development fees, I think there needs to be that justification, if they’re going to see those other financial benefits as well.”
Foulds claims many people fear that a new fee or tax would simply be a money grab.
A public information session is being held tonight at the Italian Cultural Centre from 4 PM until 8 PM on the topic. (File Photo)
