Two city councillors are upset the latest contract awarded to city firefighters by an arbitrator, now means they make more than city police.
The comments from Rebecca Johnson and Linda Rydholm come after the city manager blasted the arbitration process and wants changes from the province.
In an apparent contradiction, Rydholm doesn’t like aribtration and disagrees with their right to strike conceeding, she’s more upset the decision making is out of the city’s hands.
She says unless it changes we will be saddled with decisions from Toronto.
Councillor Johnson believes the current process puts the city at risk financially and doesn’t believe the arbitrators look at the fiscal problems of a community.
