City lawmakers shot down a plan to close down the Chippewa Park Zoo.
The idea was brought up at a recent budget meeting and if it passed it would have saved the city almost 90-thousand dollars.
Councillor Shelby Ch’ng was in favour of the motion and says five pin bowling on May Street gets more stars on Trip Advisor than the wildlife exhibit.
Ch’ng feels the zoo makes Thunder Bay look backwards and dated.
Other councillors voted to keep the zoo since closing it immediately would put the fate of the animals in jeopardy.
