The Childrens Aid Society needs your help in purchasing gifts for 500 kids in their care this Christmas.
Spokesperson Charmaine Cades says people who receive this help are really touched by it.
“When they get a gift from someone anonymously who’s just chosen to do it out of the generosity of their heart, there’s a secondary meaningto that, which is sort of a restoration of humanity,” Cades says, “People care about me who don’t know about me.”
Families, individuals and organizations will have the opportunity to purchase gifts at any one of the three Walmart locations in our city.
Cades explains the trees are hung with cards with information about a child or teen in need of a gift, along with a suggestion for what you could give them.
“Our tree ranges from newborn to 18 years old,” Cades tells us, but encourages you to consider getting a present for a child aged 13 to 18 years old, as they tend to be the age group receiving the fewest gifts through the program.
Gifts can be left under the tree and Children’s Aid will pick it up, wrap it, and deliver it for Christmas. (Staff Photo)
