There’s a new line of communication open between the town of Fort Frances and Resolute Forest Products.
Town officials were finally able to meet with a company vice-president recently and Consultant Tannis Drydale described it as a good meeting.
“He was actually apologetic with us about the lack of communication that we had received lately,” Drydale explains, adding that the company vowed to take part in monthly conference calls.
Drydale says there was no mention of any talk of the sale of the mill, although it was mentioned the company was looking at opportunities of having another company take over and re-develop it.
The Town’s Chief Administrative Officer Doug Brown shares some of the details from the talks about their plans for the mill.
“He told us that they went to every continent except Africa to try to sell the mill, and basically not too many people want to buy a mill, a craft mill. They want to be more lumber barons, is what I’m getting out of it.” (File Photo)
