There's a call to tax all residential buildings in the City equally.
Susan Cepanec speaks for the new lobby group the Coalition Against Property Tax Discrimination.
She says they take issue with apartment buildings with more than six units being taxed more than other residential buildings.
"It would be odd if you walked into a store and the clerk charged you tax at 2 1/2 greater than the tax I got on the shirt I purchased because I have a different address than you. If you have a building with four apartment units it would be taxed the same as a condo building or a single family home but if your building has more than four it's taxed at a rate of 2 and a 1/2 times."
Cepanec says they'll be asking Council in the future to tax multi-residential apartment buildings at the same rate as a single family home. (Staff photo)
