A 44-year-old Greenstone man now has a lifetime ban on owning animals.

He pled guilty last week to animal charges including killing three dogs, and causing unnecessary suffering, and not providing care for 31 dogs.

The man has also been sentenced to a six-month conditional sentence for each of three counts of animal cruelty, along with a fine of more than $27,000 to be paid to the local Humane Society.

John O'Nabigon Jr. was first arrested in late March of last year.

In February of 2017, OPP found 12 dogs on his rural property with various injuries and health problems.

They also discovered three dogs who had died.

A visit in March turned up another 17 dogs without access to food, water, or appropriate shelter, and who the OSPCA described as underweight. (File Photo)
