City Police are comparing a Monday afternoon collision between two cars to a hockey check.

They say around 11:30 in the afternoon a Chevy pick-up truck was southbound in the center lane on Algoma Street when it hit a Honda Civic that was right beside it in the curb lane.

A 75 year old man is being charged with making an unsafe lane change.

Traffic was tied up in the area while the Honda was pulled out of the snow bank.  (Photo supplied)
