Bob Nault calls it a chance to monitor and evaluate Canada's aid and support programs at an international level.

The Kenora MP is in Guatemala and Columbia this week for a fact-finding mission. He says it's part of a government plan to be more visible on the global front.Nault adds that it's important for the federal government to get a first hand look at how it's spending it's aid money.

Nault is making the trip as the Chair of the Foreign Affairs and International Development Committee and he's joined an all-party team to hold meetings and conduct field visits

He calls his visit timely, stressing the Columbian government has signed a historic peace agreement with Revolutionary Armed Forces. (File photo)
