The city is now looking for a new Chief of Police after J.P. Levesque has announced his retirement.
Levesque has been chief since 2011 and recently was reinstated after being found innocent on charges of obstructing justice and breach of trust.
Police Board Chair Jackie Dojack says Deputy Chief Sylvie Hauth will be acting chief until a replacement can be found.
During his 31 year career in the Police Service Levesque has worked on criminal and drug investigations as well as training and administration.
