It looks like the city will end the year with a little extra money.
However, City Manager Norm Gale explains that while they’re predicting a $2.8 million surplus in the tax-supported budget, that doesn’t mean the city can go on a spending spree.
“Relative to the size of our operating budget, $2.8 million represents 1.8% of our operating budget,” Gale notes.
The city is also projecting an extra $965,900 in the portion of the budget supported by rates like boating fees.
City administration recommend investing the money back into the city’s insurance reserves, reserves for legal fees, and snow-clearing budget. (File Photo)
