Looks like the Python 5000 pothole-filling machine is earning its keep.
City Roads Manager Brad Adams says the machine is being put to use almost daily.
He says some of the potholes it’s fixed up are performing well, and haven’t had to be re-patched.
“There’s a savings there, where we’re going elsewhere to do more work,”
Adams acknowledges a recent report to the city showed it was falling behind in filling cracks and potholes.
He says the new technology allows the city to do more work, while only adding one additional worker rather than three.
While it’s still too early for a proper analysis of the Python’s performance, Adams admits he’d like to see another unit for Thunder Bay. (File Photo)
