If you’ve noticed your water bill go up, it’s to pay for future maintenance of infrastructure.
Red River Ward’s councillor says the majority of a bill isn’t the amount of water used, but delivery services.
Brian McKinnon says building for the future hasn’t been done enough by past councils, leaving current administration with a lack of funds.
He says the people who run the system, and city staff, know how much money is needed a year from now, and are building up a pool of money to pay for water services for years to come.
The councillor adds this is to help pay for water 100 years from now.
