A 79 year old man is recovering from an arm injury after he was struck by a vehicle on the city's north side this morning at around 9 o'clock.
Police say it happened at the intersection of East Avenue and Dawson Road.
Witnesses tell police the elderly man crossed into the path of a vehicle that was turning on a green light.
Police say the pedestrian has been charged.

Anti-smoking crusaders and communities across northwestern Ontario are being honoured as champions in the health field.
They were recognized at a ceremony in Thunder Bay today.
The cities of Thunder Bay and Kenora along with the town of Fort Frances were recognized for making laws that advocate a smoke free environment.
There were over 20 awards handed out.
Thunder Bay's Simon Hoad is getting props for his years as an anti-tobacco advocate.
Hoad is one of 10 such people the province is recognizing today for their work to make public spaces smoke free.
Hoad was co-chair of Tobacco-Free Thunder Bay, a coalition whose mission was to see the adoption of a smoke-free bylaw.
He's being recognized for making Thunder Bay one of the early adopters of a more restrictive bylaw long before provincial legislation came out.

City Fire crews were called to the Marriott Hotel on the Harbour Expressway last night at around 11 o'clock. According to Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue, smoke was reported on the second floor, but it turned out to be burnt food from a microwave oven.
All of the hotel guests were evacuated from the building and fire fighters used fans to clear the smoke from the second floor. There were no injuries.

Councillors ratified the decision tonight in a 7-4 vote, closing the books on an issue that has seen opinion hotly divided.
Councillor Shelby Ch’ng says it’s time to say it like it is, and stop "lying to constituents" by calling it a temporary location.
Also passed was a motion by Councillor Linda Rydholm to secure money for some additional security in the vicinity.
Rydholm says it's up to city staff where the funds come from - whether it's this year's or next year's budget.
